Using Instagram Stories and Highlights

Instagram story have added an important level of interest for user and another way for businesses to connect with their target market. Disappearing content has grown in popularity with more than half a billion people using IG stories everyday. 

With the reach potential of half a billion people it’s important to know how to use IG stories, add highlights to your profile and run ads. Let’s start with how to use IG stories. 

How to use IG stories:

  1. Open the Instagram app.

  2. Tap the camera icon in the top-left corner.

  3. Take a picture by tapping the white circle at the bottom of the screen, or press and hold the white circle to take a video.

  4. You can also use a photo or video you already recorded, just tap the square gallery icon on the bottom left of your screen, or just swipe up. 

How to use IG Highlights: 

Active Stories: 

  1. Tap on the active story to view it

  2. Tap the bottom option Highlight

  3. Tap the plus icon to create new Highlight

  4. Enter the name of the new Highlight

  5. Tap the blue buttons Add

Archived Stories 

  1. On your IG profile tap the plus icon in the Story Highlights below bio

  2. Next, tap to select the stories you want to appear in the Highlight and tap Next.

  3. Tap ‘Edit Cover’ to choose the story you want to appear as the cover or upload a separate image.

  4. Enter a name for your HighlighT

  5. Tap Add (iPhone) or Done(Android).

Creating Ads

  1. Open Ads Manager in the IG app. You can choose Guided Creation or Quick Creation to create an ad. Start by clicking Create.

  2. Select from the following objectives: Brand Awareness, Reach, Video views, Conversions, App installs, Lead Generation or Traffic.

  3. Next select Automatic Placements or Edit Placements. Instagram Stories is selected by default in either with automatic or custom placements.

  4. Follow the guided ad manager and when finished click Confirm to publish your changes.
